Alumni Invitation to the Lancaster Reflective Mindset Module, 23-26 September 2018

Alumni Invitation to the Lancaster Reflective Mindset Module, 23-26 September 2018

Dear IMPM Alumnus

On behalf of everyone at the IMPM, I am delighted to be writing to you to invite you to attend three days of the forthcoming Reflective Mindset module, in Windermere in the English Lake District.

We will be welcoming 30 IMPM participants to Cycle 22 this September. As part of the development of the IMPM, each IMPM module will now have an alumni table for part of the module. The purpose of this initiative is to give you the opportunity to refresh your knowledge and learning together with current participants, meet other alumni, and to enrich the experience of each module through your participation.

As we trial and learn from this initiative during Cycle 22, you will receive an invitation to each of the IMPM modules with up to five alumni places at each module. The timetable for the alumni part of the module is:

Sunday 23 September

Arrive by mid-afternoon for Dr Peter Lenney’s session ‘Reflexive-Reflective Manager: Wisdom and Phronesis’. Followed by an informal alumni and faculty welcome dinner in the evening.

Monday 24 September

Professor Simon Bainbridge’s reflections while walking day – ‘Self, Reflection and Romantic Thought’– comprising walking, poetry, conversation, canoeing and a visit to Grasmere’s Wordsworth Museum and Archive to see Wordsworth’s original notebooks and manuscripts.

Tuesday 25 September

A morning at an historic Society of Friends/Quaker Meeting House in Colthouse to practice a corporate meeting – ‘An Experiment with Self, Reflection and Decision Making’ – with author, activist and film producer David Boulton.

Then, in the afternoon, Professor Donncha Kavanagh will be providing an interactive workshop focused on ‘Play, Reflection and Managing.’ There will be an end of module and alumni dinner in the evening with company guests.

Wednesday 26 September

We begin with an alumni plenary to which you would contribute and end the morning, and the module, with an extended reflection session until 1 pm. After lunch the module finishes.

We now hold the Lake District part of the Reflective Mindset module at the Belsfield Hotel in Windermere. For information, please see https://www.lauraashleyhotels.com/thebelsfield/ and https://www.golakes.co.uk/. There are many hotels and places to stay in Windermere.

There is no fee to participate in the IMPM as an alumnus. You have to cover your own travel and accommodation costs.

We hope you like this initiative in building the IMPM as a community of practising managers and academics, and that you will consider taking part at this or one of the forthcoming modules.

Get in touch with me in the first instance if you are interested in returning to the IMPM as an alumnus in September. We will allocate the five alumni table places on a first come first served basis. Please reply by no later than 23 August.

We would love to see some of you in the Lake District … it may even be sunshine and blue skies if the current hot weather continues!

In the meantime, our best regards

Martin
